Real Techniques Part 1

Real Techniques is the makeup brush line from british makeup artist and one half of Pixiwoo Samantha Chapman. I purchased these brushes a while back and have been using them ever since . I had been after these brushes ever since they came out but unfortunately while I was living in Puerto Rico I couldn’t get them at the time but when I moved to Florida and walked into an Ulta store my wait was finally over. I’ve decided to split this review into several parts because I want to do these brushes justice and because I did purchase several brushes I want each brush to have a complete review.

Real Techniques has an amazing variety in brushes, it really is like candy you want to buy every single brush. Which I intend to ;). The brushes have several great features :

1.The brushes have ultra-plush sinthetic brissels and are 100 % crueltry free. This is the most important factor for me in buying a brush. Any brush or makeup product that I buy has to be cruelty free and not be involved in animal testing.

2.The brushes are color coted. Each color corresponds to a makeup application eyes, base and finish. If you go on the Real Techniques website they have tutorials with the color coted system.

3. Each brush is labeled to indicate use but remember this does not mean that you can’t use them however you like this is just a guide. For example I use one of the blending brushes for my concealer.

4. Most of the brushes are self standing. How cool is it that you don’t have to find a storage container for these brushes just leave them standing on your bathroom counter top! I find this extremely useful because it is a pain trying to find containers for brushes especially if your on a budget.

5.All the brushes are made with aluminum handles. Not only are they comfortable to use but cleaning is very easy. A big problem I find with MAC brushes is once the handle gets makeup on it it’s really hard to clean.I just use a little of my Japonesque makeup brush cleanser on a clean paper towel and it comes right off.

6.Most of the brushes come in self standing cases. So if your brush is not self standing the case it comes in is.

Another great feature in the Real Techniques range is the price. These brushes will fit any budget, but the most important thing about this is you are buying quality professional brushes for an amizingly reasonable price.

So the first of the brushes in my little collection is the Starter Set. This set is priced at $18, like I said the prices are really comfortable. It comes with 5 brushes and it is all about the eyes.

The Starter Set includes:

Base Shadow Brush, great for blending. This brush helps you blend like a pro.

Deluxe Crease Brush ,this is my favorite brush in this collection.I use this brush to apply concealer and it blends it really well.you are not left with streaks under your eyes.

Accent Brush, this is great for applying color under the eyes. Because the brush is small it is perfect for under eye makeup and it blends the shadow very well in that area.

Pixel-Point Eyeliner Brush, this brush is precise! Either winged out or just a simple eyeliner this is the brush to use.

Brow Brush, don’t be scared by the size of the brush it applies the shadow really well. The first time I used the brush I was a little scepticle about the brush size but it was perfect. This brush softly applies eyeshadow in the brow area which helps in creating a more natural brow.

These brushes are a must have for creating your eyemakeup look .

What do you think of the Real Techniques Brushes? What is your favorite brush?
